Counseling Programs

PERSONAL COUNSELING

is supplied by licensed social workers who provide individual supportive sessions to help individuals with their problems.

GRIEF AND LOSS SUPPORT GROUP

meets weekly with a Center counselor as facilitator and is open to individuals who have lost a loved one.

ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP

meets monthly to assist caregivers in learning effective strategies for managing difficult behavior and coping with the stress of their responsibilities.

EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

offers assistance to job seekers of all ages in finding employment, developing resumes and improving interviewing skills.

FINANCIAL COUNSELING

is available by appointment on an individual basis to help clients budget, use credit cards responsibly, and apply for property tax exemptions.

LEGAL COUNSELING

is offered by appointment with volunteer attorneys.

MEDICARE, SUPPLEMENTAL, AND LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE COUNSELING

provides assistance with Medicare paperwork, help in resolving problems with insurance companies, HMOs and providers, and aid in selecting Medicare Supplement, Medicare Prescription and Long-Term Care policies.

MONEY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

provides ongoing help for older persons with tasks such as checkbook balancing, check writing and budgeting.

INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE

is available throughout the year by experienced volunteers who answer income tax questions, prepare basic tax returns, and help resolve problems with the IRS.

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL

answers inquiries about available community resources. With over 30 years of experience, The Center is uniquely able to perform this service.
